Culver's Considers Location On Howard Street

Ald. Ann Rainey (8th Ward) announced Monday that the city is "moving forward" with talks to bring the fast food restaurant known for its butter burgers to the Howard-Hartrey Shopping Plaza.

Culver's, the fast-food chain known for its butter burgers and frozen custard, is considering a move to the Howard-Hartrey Shopping Plaza, according to Ald. Ann Rainey (8th Ward.)

Rainey announced on Monday that she and the city's economic development team had met with Craig Culver, owner of the restaurant chain, to discuss opening a Culver's location in Evanston.

"He spent the time we were meeting autographing coupons, which he then handed out to everybody in the Target coffee shop," Rainey noted at Monday night's city council meeting.

Asked whether Culver's would definitely be moving in to the shopping plaza, Rainey said the deal wasn't official yet, but said "that's the intent."

If Culver's agreed to open a location at the Howard-Hartrey shopping plaza, the franchisee would be Guy Hollis, owner of several other Culver's locations around the Chicago area, including one in Bridgeview, according to Rainey.
