EPD and Rogers Park Officers Arrest Armed Robbery Suspects

The incident occurred early Friday morning.

From the Evanston Police Department:

Evanston Police midnight patrol officers in the area of Howard St. and Damen Ave.  were waived down by 3 people at around 1:20 a.m. who reported that they had been robbed at gun point on the Chicago side of Howard St. near the Tasty Sub Restaurant by three offenders. They said one offender had displayed a firearm.

Evanston Police had notified 24th District officers of the crime and began to immediately search the area for the offenders. Several Evanston officers while checking the area, located three subjects who immediately fled police on foot.

Evanston officers were able to chase the subjects into the park located in the 600 block of Brummel Ave. and place the subjects into custody.  These subjects matched the description given to the officers by the victims and were then identified by the victim’s as the offenders who had committed the armed robbery and taken their belongings.

Upon further checking of the area, Evanston officers were able to locate proceeds taken from the victim’s in the 200 block of Custer St. Officers also located a .357 magnum revolver which is believed to be the firearm used in this incident.

The three offenders were identified as Jeremy A. Starling, age 20, of Evanston; Akeem M. Brackenridge, age 19, of Skokie; and Steven T. Little, age 19, of Evanston. All three subjects were turned over to Rogers Park officers and were each charged with 2 counts of Armed Robbery with a Firearm.

An initial court date was set for June 24, 2011 10:30AM at Branch 42 located at Belmont Ave. & Western Ave. in Chicago.
