Evanston Contestant Hoping to Be 'Biggest Loser'

Daphne Dortch is still in the running after brother Adrian left popular TV weight-loss show.

Daphe Dortch is fighting her way toward the $250,000 grand prize on the NBC reality TV show, The Biggest Loser, the Glencoe News reports. Her brother and fellow Evanston resident Adrian Dortch left the show on the Feb. 7 episode.

The siblings are both graduates of Evanston Township High School and still call the city home.

According to the show's website, Daphne a 37-year-old mother of three, "has been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and sleep apnea. After losing the weight, she looks forward to not taking medications daily and sleeping without the aid of a CPAP machine at night. She is also looking forward to shopping at regular-size clothing stores and walking the beaches of Miami in a two-piece bikini."

She has lost 12 pounds from her starting weight of 236.

She talks about her weight gains, health scares and the intensity of participating in The Biggest Loser, which tracks contestants weight loss after weeks of gruelling exercise routines.

“It feels like you are dying once a day,” she told the paper.

Adrian, 32, is a music producer and community activist, according to the show's website.
