Two people were injured in a Wednesday night crash in Evanston.

Update:

The man who was pulled from the car has died.

The man was 39-year-old Chicago resident Allswell Osuji, according to ChicagoBreakingNews. He was pronounced dead late Wednesday at the NorthShore University HealthSystems Evanston Hospital.

Earlier:

A two-vehicle collision Wednesday night at Elgin Road and Ewing Avenue left one car in such bad shape Evanston firefighters had to cut the driver out of it.

Extracting the man from the vehicle took about 18 minutes, according to Evanston Fire Department Division Chief Thomas Janetske.

I was at the scene just seconds after the accident. Myself and another nurse stayed with this man until paramedics arrived. He was so well cared for........I hope his family knows that we prayed for him and he was not alone. Everyone there tried to help him. Three strong men opened the door for us to be able to hold his head and his chin up in order for him to breathe. It was a rainy night with poor conditions. I bet the person who hit him feels terrible. I also hope that his family can rest knowing the everything that could have been done was done.
Please send this comment to the man's family. Thanks so much.

Ugu,
You are so welcome. Your cousin's car had a holiness within. My good friend was on his right and I was on his left. We prayed for Allswell and spoke to him. We did tell him he was not alone. My friend prayed for his family (you). We were profoundly touched by this accident. The spirit there was one where everyone was trying to help. It was God-filled. Even the police and paramedics were calm. Although the night was dark, there was light in Allswell's car. I know he is in heaven.
We will keep praying for you and your family.
God bless and keep you warm this day and always.
Joan

Iky and Ugo,
It turns out that your cousin and brother, Allswell was known to my friend Bonnie Jame's neighbor and my friend Joanne's Livery driver. Both were comforted knowing that Allswell was in God's hands and that believers prayed with him. I cannot tell you of the people that were touched by this man's death. I share with a Sunday school class today the power of prayer. The 30 7th graders at St. Nick's were touched that prayer was the focus of this man's entry into heaven. I only hope I am lucky enough to be "prayed" to heaven when God calls me.
Peace,
Joan
