UPDATE: Officials Release Name of Evanston Man, 19, Shot and Killed on Brown Avenue
Police say Justin Murray, 19, a resident of the 1800 block of Brown Avenue, was shot and killed on his street around 6:15 p.m. Thursday evening.
A 19-year-old Evanston resident was shot and killed in the 1800 block of Brown Avenue Thursday evening, police say.
Police were called to the scene after witnesses heard several shots fired around 6:15 p.m., according to a press release from the Evanston Police Department. When officers arrived, they found 19-year-old Justin Murray lying in the street, police say.
Murray was transported to Evanston/North Shore University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police Cmdr. Jason Parrott told Patch that Murray is a resident of the 1800 block of Brown Avenue.
Police say they do not have any suspects in custody, and are seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the crime. Anyone who has information is asked to call the police department at (847) 866-5000.

We are saddened to report that Justin Murray, a 2011 graduate of ETHS, was found shot and killed at approximately 6:30pm last night in the 1800 block of Brown Avenue, according to the Evanston Police Department. The investigation is ongoing.

OMG, I didn't know this young man, but we know a lot of the same people. What is going on? I am not an Evanstonian, but I'm a direct neighbor growing up in West Rogers Park....... Evanston never used to be this dangerous. Didn't we learn anything from the death of our beloved Dajae Coleman. This is so sad, my heart goes out to Justin Murray, his family, and friends. God Bless. The violence must stop. I'm afraid to bring kids into this world because of senseless punks with guns.

What is going on in Evanston?!?! I moved here 2 years ago thinking it was something that it CLEARLY is NOT! I thought Evanston was a cool place close to the city with some suburban advantages, little did I know it's actually a killing field! Wake up Evanston Police Department!! $100 for gun buy back? Really? If anyone thinks that is enough to get the guns that are causing these problems they are seriously out of touch. We don't pay $9,000.00 in property taxes to live in a little house on the West side (and I know how much you all pay east of Chicago) to live with this kind of nonsense. There is more than enough responsibility to go around, so we must all be engaged. Maybe it's time to give up on this wild west town and move back to Chicago!

I'll bet that someone in that neighborhood knows who killed this kid. People need to report what they witness. I know that can be risky. But it's riskier to let the violence continue. I moved here from Chicago ten years ago. Violence in Chicago is worse than ever.

well now that the death toll has reached 3 (in the past 2 weeks!) maybe the police can start making some arrests! if they had established relationships in the neighborhood rather than hiding in Dominicks to catch people stealing liquor, they would be able to get some information on these killings! getting outraged!!!!
