Wait a minute, its a felony to possess cannabis, but a misdemeanor to possess a gun without a permit?

John, it's my understanding that it is a felony to possess 30 grams or more of cannabis, but a misdemeanor for lower amounts in Illinois. Possession of a firearm without a valid firearm owner's ID can also be a felony or a misdemeanor, depending on the circumstances. Here's a link to the law on that: http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ilcs/ilcs3.asp?ActID=1657&ChapterID=39

Also it can be a felony for only possessing several grams or more of cannabis if it is packaged for delivery. There are a lot of variables that come into play (school zone, etc...)
