A 46-year-old Evanston man was arrested and charged Friday after a garage burglary on the 1100 block of Sheridan Rd. Police said a car inside the garage had been burglarized, with change being taken from the interior of the vehicle.

Officers received a call of a burglary in process, and a short time later found and stopped a man who matched the description given.

"During the filed inquiry the suspect, identified as Patrick J. Gordon, gave evasive nonsensical answers to the officers’ questions," Evanston police said about the incident. Police said Gordon was later positively identified as the offender who had entered the garage.

"Officers recovered from Gordon $15.91 all in coins," police said.

Gordon has been charged with one felony count of burglary. A court date has been set for Dec. 1 in Skokie.
