Offender Pries Open Security Door to Steal Zune Player

The following arrest information was supplied by the Evanston Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

 

Microsoft Zune player stolen in burglary

A vehicle parked in the 800 block of Hinman Avenue was reported burglarized on Feb. 25. According to the report, the offender pried open an apartment lobby security door to gain entry into a parking garage. 

Missing from a vehicle was a Microsoft Zune MP3 player. The suspect was described as a black male, about 5-foot-7 and 175-pounds, police said.

Catalytic converter stolen

A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 700 block of Monroe Street on Feb. 28. The car part contains precious metals that can be sold for several hundred dollars.

Burglary

A laptop and cash register were reported stolen from a warehouse in the 2100 block of Demspter Street on Feb. 26.

Gang graffiti

Police observed gang graffiti in the 1200 block of Pitner Avenue on Feb. 27.

Retail theft

Coprist Carroll, 32, of Evanston, was charged with retail theft on Feb. 27. Carroll was arrested in the 1900 block of Dempster Street.

Possession of cannabis

A 30-year-old Evanston man was charged with possession of cannabis on Feb. 28. The man was arrested in the 200 block of Ridge Avenue around 4:38 p.m.
