Police Blotter May 6: Burglars Hit Design Shop; Park District Loses A/C Unit
A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.
The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Burglary
Someone broke into the Royell Designs business on the 100 block of Custer Street and stole $13 cash from the register between 8:15 p.m. on May 4 and 12:15 p.m. on May 5. The burglar broke in through the front door with a pry bar and brute force. The business was ransacked, but nothing else was reported missing.
Theft
A Trane XE 1000 central air condition unit was stolen from a field house owned by the Ridgeville Park District on the 1100 block of South Boulevard between 3:30 p.m. on May 4 and 10:44 a.m. on May 5. The unit is worth $2,500.
Someone stole a bicycle, silver and black bags and a wallet from a gas station on the 100 block of Ridge Avenue at 6:20 p.m. on May 4.
Tools were stolen in an alley at 9:30 a.m. on May 5 on the 1400 block of Noyes Street.
A blue girls' bicycle was stolen between May 1 and April 25 from an apartment bike room on the 400 block of Ridge Avenue.
Vandalism
A group of men broke the front and rear door windows out on a house on the 900 block of Edgemere Court at 10:53 p.m. on April 22. There were four white males in the group, ranging in height from 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-11, all medium to slender build.
The wall sconces were damaged in an apartment common area between 3:30 p.m. on May 4 and 8:15 a.m. on May 5 on the 1700 block of Hinman Avenue.
Someone sprayed graffiti on a sidewalk on the 2400 block of Emerson Street at 11:56 a.m. on May 5.
Graffiti was found sprayed on a business on the 700 block of Howard Street at 5:07 p.m. on May 4.
Violation of Protection Order
Christopher P. Henry, 25, of Chicago was arrested and charged with violating a protection order at 6 p.m. on May 3 on the 1600 block of West Jonquil Terrace in Chicago. His court date is set for May 18.
Domestic Battery
A 51-year-old Evanston man was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 8:10 p.m. on May 4 on the 1300 block of Main Street. His court date is set for May 18.
Arrest Warrant
Torrence C. McGee, 27, of Evanston was arrested on a warrant at 4:55 p.m. on May 4 on the 1800 block of Emerson Street.
Victor M. Morales, 23, of Chicago was arrested on a warrant at 4:25 p.m. on May 3 on the 100 block of Ridge Avenue.
Driving without a Valid License
Stephanie C. Parker, 29, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 10:54 a.m. on May 5 on the 2500 block of Green Bay Road. Her court date is set for June 20.
