Robbers Push Woman Down, Steal Purse

The following arrests and incidents were reported by the Evanston Police Department:

Robbers Push Woman Down, Steal Purse

Two men pushed a woman to the ground, then grabbed her Marc Jacobs canvas purse during a strongarm robbery at 7:34 p.m. in the 600 block of Judson Avenue, according to police. The robbers also stole her Apple cell phone and Kindle, police said.

Burglar Steals Jewelry, Camera, Rum On Emerson

A burglar entered an unlocked home in the 1800 block of Emerson Street between 7:10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, and 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, according to police. He or she stole diamond earrings, an Olympus HD video camera, dark Bacardi rum and credit cards, police said.

Man Charged With Battery On Grove

Errol R. Shelton, 49, of the 1000 block of Grove Street, was arrested and charged with battery after he pushed someone at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, in the 1000 block of Grove Street, police said.

Bikes Stolen on Chicago Avenue

Someone used a tool to steal a Thruster bicycle with a black frame and red and yellow accents and a red bicycle with a basket on the front from an apartment parking lot in the 800 block of Chicago Avenue between Sept. 1 and Jan. 14, according to police.

A man used a tool to steal a Trek bicycle with a black bag on the front and a water bottle on the frame from an apartment parking lot in the 800 block of Chicago Avenue between 4:22 and 4:48 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, police reported.  

Laptop, GPS, Chess Set Stolen in Car Burglary

Someone stole a 13-inch MacBook Pro laptop computer, a Garmin GPS, Targus backpack, chess set and TI calculator from a 2002 Honda parked in the 1100 block of Grant Street between 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, and 3:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, according to police.

Thief Steals Wallet From Purse

Someone stole a bright red bifold “MyWallet” wallet from a purse at a drug store in the 1700 block of Sherman avenue between 2:30 and 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, police reported.

Catalytic Converter Stolen on Hinman

Someone stole a catalytic converter from a 1998 Toyota parked in an apartment lot in the 500 block of Hinman Avenue between 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, and 7:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, according to police.

Have the police indicated if the Judson robbery is potentially related to the strongarm robbery that happened this morning at Main and Custer?

Police haven't said they believe the two are related but that's a good question. I'll see what I can find out.

@Evanston Eastsider - police say they are considering the possibility that the two robberies may be related, given "the similar circumstances and area."
