Did your dad show you how to correctly throw a football or teach you to make a killer soufflé? (My dad actually does make the soufflés in our family.) Or did he give you great advice on your wedding day or after your first child was born?

My father told me (starting) when I was quite young that I would be successful doing anything I put my mind to and was passionate about. That reassurance gave me the confidence to reach for my dreams without fear-and has always stayed with me. I will forever be grateful for his belief in me. Happy Father's Day Dad!!

Never to trust the police. If it's harmleas and simple go ahead but anything else shut up and ask for an attorney or get one. They don't care about you. They will lie and cheat which the Supreme Court says they can do. They fit you to a crime not the crime to the suspect.

My dad shared this wisdom with me...and I have used it time and time again in my life.
" Don't listen to what people say...watch what they do...that is where you will find the truth". Right on Ray !!! : )

My dad likes to quote Wallace Stevens, specifically the line "Death is the mother of beauty." I've taken it to mean that you should make a point of spending time with your loved ones, because you never know how long they'll be around.
Despite a somewhat morbid streak, as evidenced by that quote, my father also has a wicked sense of humor. He taught me that you can find something to laugh about in almost every situation, no matter how bleak.
I also have to credit my father with my addiction to coffee. Thanks, Dad!

my dad has been dead for 20 years. he and his schtick have "never left the building". most of his advice of which there are ACRES, resonate. they make me human, the profound and not so. we are having his 100th b-day party this fall, hopefully he won't complain and not tell too many bad jokes. ahhhhhh, KODACHROME.

I was raised by a step-father who I dearly love and admire. When I was about 16 -17 years young, I was sneaking cigarettes. My step-father caught me smoking outdoors and instead of giving me grief and a long speech, he said..." a lady should never smoke in public." I know this sounds corny, but it always stuck with me, and before I stopped smoking, I would never smoke in public.
