I was there!

Hello Humans of Evanston:

I think I witnessed history yesterday.

We were going to Whole Foods to get dinner - love that organic dog food!

Anyways, we saw a crowd gathered at Greenleaf and Chicago. The people were all over: standing in the street on the west side of Chicago, sitting on the curbs and grass on the east side. There were lots of dogs, too, but just teeny ones, no one I could really sniff or get to know.

Well, all these people were watching a construction crew move that big unidentified object that had been sitting in the Jewel parking lot for a month or saw. They had it hanging from some big machine and it was slowly moving south across Greenleaf.

I was hoping it was part of a new dog agility course (you should see me do the hoop!)..but I don't think it was. There was the scent of history floating in the air...or was that the smell of the BeeBimBop wafting down from the Evanston Grill? But the looks on the faces of the parents told me they thought they were sharing something significant and lasting with their kids. I heard one man say to his little boy: "Some day when you are older you'll tell people you were here when the put the bridge up".

I'd have been more excited about the agility course.

Arf!

Whenever Shadow is in Evanston, he likes to sniff around at the vacant lot at Main & Chicago. You will, too!

I would have rather liked to see the bridge, not a tongue

Enrico - you've got rather high expectations for a dog, don't you think? Give a dog some credit for figuring out how to use the self-timer !

Enrico - you do realize that I am a dog, right? A dog. And, for the record, I am not "self-involved", I have a girlfriend, a cute beagle/terrier mix, named Lola. I'll post a picture of her.- Shadow
