7 Surprising Facts About Evanston Township High School
Did you know that 16,000 ETHS alumni live in Evanston? Or that the school has a planetarium and migratory tortoises?
Parents of incoming and new students who participated in a campus tour of Evanston Township High School Wednesday learned some interesting stats.
Ald. Jane Grover (7th Ward), tweeted some of the things she learned during the tour, which we've posted above. For more facts and figures about Evanston Township High School, you can check out the school's website, which has a page devoted to just that.
Other notable facts:
- ETHS was ranked the 14th toughest school in Illinois by the Washington Post this May.
- U.S. News & World Report ranked the high school No. 18 in the state in 2013, down from No. 17 in 2012.
- The school was founded 130 years ago, in 1883.
- The campus is 62 acres, while the building occupies 1.3 million square feet.
