Books On Sale For 25 Cents at the Library

Events at the library this week include a book sale, property tax seminar and free screening of 'Despicable Me.'

The library will host a special book sale from Monday, Aug. 19, through Sunday, Aug. 25, in the Book Nook area on the first floor of the Main Library. All items are 25 cents, and the shelves will be stocked with new materials every day, according to the library.

See what else is going on at the library this week:

  • Property Tax Seminar: Take advantage of a free property tax seminar at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at the Evanston Public Library Main Branch, 1703 Orrington Ave. The seminar is hosted by Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin, Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Michael Cabonargi, State Senators Daniel Biss and Heather Steans, State Representatives Robyn Gabel, Laura Fine and Kelly Cassidy, and Evanston Assessor Bonnie Wilson.
  • Teen DIY: Comic Book Modge Podge: Teens can use Modge Podge and comics to cover notebooks, folders, pencils, picture frames and other materials in this class for grades 6-12 Thursday, Aug. 22, at the Chicago Avenue Main Street Branch, 900 Chicago Ave.
  • Free Screening of Despicable Me: Catch this kids movie at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Chicago Avenue Main Street Branch, 900 Chicago Ave.
