Cheesie's Makes Zagat List of Top Grilled Cheese in the U.S.

Evanstonians have access to some of the best grilled cheese in the United States--at least according to the Zagat Guide.

Sandwiches from Cheesie's Pub & Grub, 622 Davis St., made Zagat's recent list of the 30 best grilled cheese sandwiches in the United States. Zagat writers noted Cheesie's use of Texas toast, and highlighted "The Popper," which features cheddar cheese, cream cheese, cheddar cheese sauce, jalapeno peppers and bacon on sourdough bread.

Cheesie's has another location in Lake View, and also operates a food truck. Only two other Chicago restaurants made the Zagat Guide's list: The Fat Shallot food truck and Bar Pastoral.
