Evanston's Jennifer Pritzker Among 400 Richest Americans
Forbes has released its annual list of the wealthiest people in the United States. Jennifer Pritzker clocked in at No. 327.
With an estimated net worth of $1.7 billion, Evanston's Jennifer Pritzker ranks among the wealthiest people in the nation, according to Forbes.
Pritzker is No. 327 of the 400 richest Americans in the magazine's annual ranking, and became the first Forbes 400 member to switch genders, the magazine reports.
The Hyatt Hotel heir announced she was changing her name from James to Jennifer and that she would identify as a woman on Aug. 16, according to a statement released to Patch.

Pritzker is CEO of Tawani Enterprises, Inc., and has invested in several local historic restoration projects through her company. She recently made a $1.2 million bid for Evanston's lakefront Harley Clarke Mansion, but city council members ultimately rejected the proposal. She did win council approval for two bed and breakfast projects in historic Evanston homes, at 1622 Forest Place and 300 Church St.
There were 15 other Illinois residents who made Forbes' list, most in Chicago or North Shore suburbs. They include several members of the Pritzker family and Northwestern grad Patrick Ryan, founder of Aon.
