Junot Diaz, Katherine Boo Coming to Evanston

Several major speakers are lined up for the Chicago Humanities Festival's annual "Evanston Day," on Sunday, Oct. 13.

Major authors and comedians are coming to Evanston on Sunday, Oct. 13, for the Chicago Humanities Festival’s annual Evanston Day.

Speakers include Junot Diaz, author of The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao; Katherine Boo, author of Beyond the Beautiful Forevers; and writer and comedian Delia Ephron (yes, that’s Nora Ephron’s sister.)

Beyond the major speakers, there are some interesting lectures lined up as well. Northwestern University professors Susie Phillips and Indira Raman will talk about the intersections between art and science in a lecture titled “A Neuroscientist and a Humanist Walk into a Bar.” And Field Museum of Natural History curator Robert Martin will talk about sex in humans and animals in a speech entitled, naturally, “How We Do It.”
