Mayor Seeks Members For Downtown Performing Arts Task Force

The new task force will include representatives of performing arts groups, downtown areas and local businesses, as well as construction professionals.

The following press release was written by the city of Evanston:

City of Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl is seeking members for a new Downtown Performing Arts Task Force. The nine-member task force will include representatives of performing arts groups, representatives from both the downtown and other areas, business representatives, and construction professionals. In addition, the task force will include Executive Director of Downtown Evanston or her designee, a member of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and a representative from Northwestern University.

The task for the members will be to advise the Mayor and Aldermen on the next steps regarding the feasibility for creating a Performing Arts Center in Downtown Evanston. It is recommended that this work be completed within approximately six months after the appointment of all nine members and that a report be delivered to City Council following the identification of a specific site or sites.

The deadline for Evanston residents to submit an application is Friday, November 8, 2013. Applications are being accepted online at the boards, commissions and committee page at www.cityofevanston.org/bcc.
