Residents Asked to Follow Voluntary Alternate Side Parking Tuesday and Wednesday

The city is anticipating snow on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The following press release was submitted by the city of Evanston:

The City of Evanston is asking residents to voluntarily abide by the alternate side parking restrictions on Tuesday, December 17 and Wednesday, December 18 so crews can clear the parking lanes of accumulated snow.

Tuesday, December 17 is an odd date, so the city is asking that cars be parked on the even side of the street between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Wednesday, December 18 is an even date, so the city is requesting that cars be parked on the odd side of the street between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Residents and businesses are reminded that they must clear snow and ice from the sidewalks adjacent to their respective properties for the safety of their neighbors after a snow or ice event. If snow is packed and difficult to remove, please use salt or sand to make sidewalks passable. Landlords are responsible for keeping sidewalks, parking lots and all common areas, including open stairwells, free from all hazardous conditions at all times.

Sidewalks should be completely cleared to allow everyone to travel freely using the sidewalks instead of the street. Removal of snow and ice from the sidewalks, curb cuts and parking lots can help prevent accidents and injuries. Also be aware of elderly or disabled neighbors who cannot shovel their own walks and offer to help.
