Three New Businesses Hold Grand Openings in Evanston

The popular empanada shop Tomate Fresh Kitchen is among three new businesses having their official ribbon cuttings in Evanston next week.

Three new businesses are officially cutting the ribbon on new properties in Evanston next week, according to the chamber of commerce.

Tomate Fresh Kitchen

Tania Merlos-Ruiz will hold a ribbon cutting at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, for her empanada shop at 912 1/2 Noyes St. Merlos-Ruiz told Patch earlier this year that she started selling empanadas at the indoor farmers market in Evanston this year, and people liked them so much that she continued to sell them at the outdoor farmers market over the summer. Then she began getting requests for catering, and opening a standalone location was “the next logical step.”

Cornerstone Health Clinic

Specializing in chiropractic, nutrition and allergy testing, this new holistic health clinic holds its grand opening at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 500 Davis St., Ste. 109. "I established Cornerstone Health to offer a more complete option for all those who have had poor healthcare experiences in the past, clinic director Benjamin Ferbus said in a release.  "Our mission is to help our patients achieve an optimal state of well-being with a minimally invasive approach,"

Group Fox Presidential Apartments
The new luxury apartment complex managed by Group Fox holds a ribbon cutting at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at 800 Hinman Ave. The building offers studio, convertible and one-bedroom floor plans and has a 24-hour fitness center and roof deck, according to the Group Fox website. Features include granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and hardwood flooring. “Group Fox Presidential Apartments are a local residential property that will give even more choices to those who want to live and work in Evanston,”  the chamber's executive director, Elaine Kemna-Irish, said in a release.
