Renters beware!

People are out to get renters. Watch out!

If you’re looking for a new apartment, proceed with caution.  I have gotten a few calls this week about bogus rental listings on Craigslist, Hotpads, etc.  Someone posts a rental that seems too good to be true.  When the prosepctive tenant calls to find out more information, they tell them that they have already moved out of the country.  If they want the place they have to wire the deposit to them right away since its such a good deal.
The tenant wires the money, packs their stuff and shows up on moving day only to find out that the “owner” pocketed the money and the people living there have no idea who the new tenants are.
Imagine your family on the moving truck, money lost, and nowhere to go.

If it seems to good to be true, it probably is, and NEVER wire money for a deposit.
