Volunteers Kickoff National Volunteer Week Feeding the Hungry in Evanston and Neighboring Communities

National Volunteer Week takes place April 21-27. Volunteers from ComEd and Exelon held a volunteer service project in Evanston on Wednesday, April 17, sorting and repackaging bulk food items.

Employee volunteers from ComEd and its parent company Exelon had an early start to their celebration of National Volunteer Week at the Salvation Army location in Evanston on Wednesday, April 17.  The volunteers sorted and repackaged bulk food items, preparing them for distribution to local families from Evanston, Rogers Park and Skokie.  The volunteers also donated canned and non-perishable food items.

National Volunteer Week takes place April 21-27 and is an annual nationwide celebration of people working to improve their communities through service.  For the seventh consecutive year, Exelon employees have organized community service projects in which approximately 2,000 employees, family members and friends are expected to provide volunteer service.

Most of the volunteer projects support Exelon’s corporate citizenship focus areas of education, diversity and inclusion, community enrichment and environmental stewardship.
