While I doubt most current parents or students would have any recollection, ETHS used to have a Rifle Team and a Firing Range ON SCHOOL PROPERTY. This country has a long tradition of teaching civilians to acquire the skills necessary to defend ourselves through a program called the Civilian Marksmanship Program ["CMP"]. There are numerous high schools throughout the United States that have continued the tradition. Shooting programs teach discipline, firearm safety and respect for participation in an organized group. There are even high schools in Chicago that have junior ROTC programs. Since the liberal progressive model seems to be failing worse than miserably how about giving the "old methods" another chance.
