Dear Evanston Business - Ban Concealed Carry Firearms and Lose My Business

The new Illinois Concealed Carry Law contains a specific list of places where the concealed carry of firearms is strictly prohibited. As a law abiding citizen that intends to obtain a permit and carry a firearm, my intention is, OF COURSE to obey the law. There is a second group of location including businesses, house of worship, etc. that can make an affirmative choice to permit or prohibit the concealed carry of firearms. My view is that if a business has a choice and makes the choice to prohibit the concealed carry of firearms..I am going to make a choice....NOT TO DO BUSINESS WITH THEM in most cases. I don't intend to be absolute and rigid on the topic. However, if I do have a choice between a business that is concerned enough about the safety of its customers to not turn them into SHEEP in a "gun free zone" I will choose do spend my money there before spending it in a business that does. 

There is no reason that personal safety can't be a part of what influences economic choices.  Finally, I want to reiterate my personal view which is NOT to subscribe to the approach of "if its concealed who is going to know"......WRONG approach. Where the law mandates no concealed weapon I intend to follow the law...it may just mean that certain places are avoided.
