How about a photo you don't see in the press all that often...former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords with an AR-15. It seems that the people don'r remember that for most of her career Ms. Giffords was very solidly pro-2A and her newly professed views on the subject certainly don't reflect her history...perhaps the change of view is due to the injuries and PTSD. What IS clear is that the SOLE change in law that might have avoided the situation with befell her would have been better reporting of mental health issues affecting her shooter..... The ban of modern sporting rifles, of high capacity magazines wouldn't have changed the result. If everyone would stop seeking to infringe on legitimate rights under 2A with regard to extremist confiscatory goals taking modern sporting rifles away from law abiding gun owners....we ought be able to find a middle ground on background checks. However, unless and until a national firearm registry and the ban attempts are off the table why should we compromise when the gun grabbers won't accept reasonable limitations
