Legal Challenge To Evanston Retail Firearms Law

The cities of Evanston and Oak Park are the sole two suburbs in Illinois that ban retail firearms dealers. The time is at hand for the Evanston ban law to be changed. The City of Chicago has lost in court once again and IS REQUIRED by a Federal Judge to permit the retail of firearms in Chicago [See Case: 1:10-cv-04184 Document #: 238]. The City of Chicago has also lost in Federal Court on its ability to prevent the establishment of shooting ranges in the City. Chicago, wisely for once has indicated that it will not continue to fight the rulings in court.

Its time for the City of Evanston to change its draconian ordinances to permit retail firearm dealers to sell firearms to those residents that are legally able to buy them and for a shooting range in Evanston. If the City doesn't want to make the necessary changes to its ordinances, we can get the NRA to take the City back to Court and spend another $400K of taxpayer money to force them to capitulate just like what was done in 2007 after the SCOTUS decision in Heller.

The combination of newly legal concealed carry in Illinois and an uncontrollable wild spree of armed robberies in South Evanston create a compelling case for this change to become a priority.
