More Gun Laws - 6 Dead, 27 Wounded Whats Wrong Here?

This weekend two new gun laws were passed by the Illinois Legislature they include:

1. Making it a crime not to report the theft of firearms within 72 hours
2. Requiring the use of the NICS background check system for firearm sales between private individuals in Illinois after December 31. 2013.

The first law is dumb.....its already a crime to steal firearms...why criminalize the victim? The second law makes absolute sense and the background check is already required by licensed firearms dealers.

The next article highlights the weekend's scorecard...SIX DEAD AND 28 WOUNDED BY GUNFIRE.  Does anyone else see a problem here........?? Anyone want to bet how many of the firearms used to kill and wound these people were bought by legal gun owners and properly registered......I can venture a guess.....can we all yell ZERO?  I support the 2A and concealed carry...I also follow the law...and would bet that there isn't a single one of us that enjoys reading about killings and woundings involving ILLEGAL GUNS used by CRIMINALS.....in the cases of these two new laws....the background checks are absolutely common sense and logical, provided the Illinois State Police can make the database available in a timely and accurate form. The latter is a unnecessary but, tolerable. WAIT.....HAVE THEY MADE IT ILLEGAL FOR FELONS TO POSSESS FIREARMS, USE THEM TO KILL, SHOOT AND MAIM PEOPLE. Does anyone else think that possibly the priority ought be on enforcing the laws we already have and putting criminals where they belong might be a good idea?
