Who Was Dumber George Zimmerman or Trayvon Martin- Bad Judgment All Around

Let me begin by stating that as a I seek to balance my rights under the 2A and state law with a pragmatic understanding of the real world...George Zimmerman is perhaps the greatest nightmare that could exist with respect to concealed carry ["CCW"] statute. The simple answer if rather than being a wannabe ninja he would have listened to the police dispatcher and stayed in his car, Mr. Martin would still be alive, and Mr. Zimmerman wouldn't be on trial for murder. Mr. Zimmerman didn't follow simple directions and by doing so placed himself in a situation that could have been avoided.

Having said that, its rather clear that Mr. Martin was more of a small time thug than an angel...and since I wasn't there to actually witness what took place I am speculating based upon the same second hand information that everyone else has seen.

That said, the issue at hand, is NOT whether Mr. Zimmerman provoked the conflict by exiting his vehicle....that could be a mitigating factor to distinguish sustaining a charge of voluntary vs. involuntary manslaughter based upon the judge's charge to the jury. Rather, the central question is whether at the moment that Mr. Zimmerman made the decision to utilize deadly force did he have the requisite reasonable belief that he was about to suffer a potentially lethal attack....and if he was indeed on the ground being pummeled by Mr. Martin with the back of his head split open...the answer is clearly YES...and the shooting was justified....clearly to a level to preclude a conviction for murder. The issue related to manslaughter depends on a determination of the level of negligence ascribed to his decision to leave his vehicle.

Personally...I despise Mr. Zimmerman for using demonstrating poor judgement in ignoring the police dispatcher and MORE SO FOR THE STAIN IT CREATES AND PROVIDES THE GUN GRABBERS A CHANCE TO CARP ABOUT BEHAVIOR OF CCW PERMIT HOLDERS. At present there are over one million CCW permits in force in Florida...Mr. Zimmerman is one in a million STUPID. Mr. Martin is obviously not a candidate for sainthood....and the judge's decision to exclude much of his thug background from the trial is unfortunate. If Mr. Zimmerman is acquitted on at trial, it will be interesting to see how a wrongful death suit plays out in civil court....the OJ Simpson legacy offers some clues.

Having reflected on all of the above, having this case parroted over and over again by the gun grabbers that would seek to prevent CCW from becoming effective in Illinois is further proof that it may be impossible to further compromise and why the NRA has the right idea.
