Students & Public Come out for Northwestern College’s 2013 Career Fair in Chicago’s Jefferson Park

[Rosemont, Chicago-Jefferson Park, IL] On Thursday, May 16, Northwestern College’s Chicago Campus hosted its 2013 Career Fair for both its students and the community. While the majority of attendees were Northwestern College students and alumni, approximately 15% were members of the public who took advantage of the opportunity to meet directly with employers locally. The event heralded twenty four (24) employers and recruiters interested in filling various positions.

Northwestern College opened its 2013 Career Fair to current students, alumni, and the general public, with all three categories participating. Businesses that took part in the 2013 Career Fair included: Allied Barton Security Services; AFLAC; IL Department of Employment Security; Wyvil Systems Inc.; TCF Bank; Harmony Health Plan of Illinois; Robert Half Legal; Advanced Resources Staffing; United States Secret Service; College Nannies and Tutors; Casa Central; RCN Cable Chicago; Mobile Doctors; Smithereen Pest Management; Computer Training Institute of Chicago; U.S. Coast Guard; Snelling Services; SMS; IL Department of Transportation; US Department of Homeland Security; and Cooper Concepts, Inc. Representatives from Kauzu were available to assist students and other job seekers with a free website tool to utilize in their quest for employment.

A representative from Devry University was also available to provide information for students interested in continuing their education to obtain a 4-year degree (Northwestern College is a 2 year degree institution).

According to feedback obtained from the employers and recruiters in attendance, they found the event to be well organized and an event they enjoyed participating in and would participate in again in the future.

The success of the Career Fair would not have been possible without the efforts of Northwestern College’s Career Development & Alumni Relations Coordinator Greg Norton, the Office of Career Development & Alumni Relations, and the many volunteers who assisted.

“A good education builds the foundation for a successful career,” commented Lawrence Schumacher, President of Northwestern College. “We are excited to have provided connections for our students to so many prominent businesses in our Chicagoland area and are hopeful that these connections will lead to full time employment opportunities. Northwestern College remains committed to assisting our students and graduates in obtaining employment in their fields of study.”
