'Art in the Village' Coming to Downtown Winnetka This Weekend, June 21 & 22

You won't want to miss the inaugural Art in the Village national juried fine arts show on Saturday, June 21 (10 am - 6 pm) and Sunday, June 22  (10 am - 5 pm) in downtown Winnetka, on Lincoln Avenue between Elm and Oak Streets.  Celebrate the homecoming of an art fair to Winnetka, as well as North Shore Art League's 90 year history in the village.  With over 70 booths featuring painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media, photography, digital art, jewelry and glass art, this promises to be an exceptional show, and it's free.    Highlights of the diversity of artwork include:     Darren Jones of Chicago (www.darrencjones.com) captures nature's beauty in paintings that are impressionistic and contemporary in style.   Husband and wife ceramic artists and glaze specialists Wayne Gao and Michelle Chang of California create vibrant color ceramic tile artwork with a 3-dimensional effect.   Joe Ruck of Rolling Meadows, IL (www.joeruck.com) creates a bold impressionistic style in his artwork using a brayer(roller) as a fine art painting tool.   Woodworker Gene Benes of Homer Glen, IL of "Pens by Gene" creates beautiful handcrafted "signature" writing instruments.   Randi Ford of Grand Rapids, MI (www.randifordart.com), an illustrator, oil and gouache painter and stationery designer, is inspired by nature, wildlife and Michigan's landscape.   Anne Gilna of Lincolnshire, IL (www.artbyannegilna.com) paints birds and botanical art representing all seasons in watercolor.  Her portraits are created using charcoal, graphite pencil or colored pencil.   Photographer and silkscreen artist Kenyatta Ray of Heverlee, Belgium photographs people and their culture around the world.   The added attraction of a Silent Auction tent with artwork donated by the Art in the Village exhibitors and NSAL Board member artists will pique your interest, with proceeds to benefit the NSAL school and scholarships.  The lead sponsor for Art in the Village is Jameson Sotheby's International Realty.   The awards sponsors are NorthShore University HealthSystem and The New York Times.   For questions regarding Art in the Village, please contact the NSAL office at 847-446-2870.
