Burger Wars, Salad Skirmish Winners
Dick Peach, President, Evanston Chamber of Commerce, announced the winners in the Evanston Chamber of Commerce’s 2013 Burger Wars/Salad Skirmish, at the 4th annual MashUp on Tuesday, September 17.
Peach commented, “The 26 restaurant entrants in Evanston make this an enjoyable event for businesses, the restaurants and certainly the public. Over one thousand people took the time to vote and to sample Evanston’s finest. Chamber Executive Director Elaine Kemna Irish led groups to several of the competing restaurants for tastings.

The winners competed in three categories, Taste, Creativity and Presentation.

In the burger category, Taste; winner BAT 17, Creativity, JT’s, a newer restaurant in Evanston and Presentation, Edzo’s. Salad top vote getters include
Taste, Celtic Knot, Creativity, The Cellar and Presentation, Illinois Nut & Candy of Skokie.
Top taste burger winner’s BAT’s creation piled on 10 oz Angus beef, thick sliced Applewood smoked bacon, American cheese, and onion strings on a large Brioche bun with a host of choices for ‘sides’ while the Celtic Knot’s salmon salad was a hit with voters.
