Evanston Boy Scouts embark for Jamboree

Boy Scouts from Evanston and across the North Shore will be leaving on Sunday to go to the 2013 National Scout Jamboree, an event where 50,000 Boy Scouts, adults, and volunteers will gather in West Virginia to celebrate scouting. At the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve, which is newly opening this year for the first time, scouts will enjoy amazing activities, including whitewater rafting, climbing, zip lines, mountain biking, shooting, and many more high adventure activities.

36 scouts from the Northeast Illinois Council, Evanston's local scouting chapter, will be going with Troop C412, one of five council contingents to the Jamboree. To keep updated on the troop's actions, you can follow them on http://twitter.com/troopC412 or http://facebook.com/troopC412. To learn more about the Jamboree, visit http://bsajamboree.org. The Scouts are really excited!
