Evanston Children at Risk of Hunger to Benefit from Feeding Our Future Summer Meal Program

Sodexo’s Feeding Our Future summer meal program – which works to help fill the nutrition gap that widens when the school year ends – is a collaborative volunteer effort with business and non-profit partners including The Camps Kitchen at Northwestern University, Family Focus of Evanston, Sodexo Foundation, Sodexo at Northwestern University and other community organizations.

Nationally, more than 16 million kids are at risk of hunger and, according to statistics released by Feeding America, nearly 23 percent of Chicago-area children are “food insecure.” That is more than 692,000 children in Chicago who, without the support of free and reduced-price school breakfast and lunch, are often uncertain about the source of their next meal. To date, Feeding Our Future has provided more than 268,000 free summer meals to Chicago youth, with another 12,500 slated to be served this summer.
