Evanston resident named Interim Dean at Roosevelt University

Bonnie Gunzenhauser has been appointed Interim Dean of Roosevelt University’s College of Arts and Sciences, succeeding Lynn Weiner who stepped down to become University Historian.

An Evanston resident, Gunzenhauser is recognized for her distinguished scholarship and teaching and for her ability to work collegially with faculty in all academic disciplines.  An expert on the way literacy shapes political identity both in eighteenth-century Britain and today, she joined Roosevelt in 2003 and has held multiple faculty and administrative positions throughout her time at Roosevelt.

Gunzenhauser previously was associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, chair of the Department of Literature and Languages from 2005-12 and was assistant director of English Composition from 2003-05.  In addition, she was a scholar-in-residence at Chicago’s Newberry Library from January 2010 to June 2012.
