Evanston resident Beatty named to new hospital system board

Joseph Beatty, a resident of Evanston, has been named to the 13-member Board of Trustees of the new health system created by the merger of Edward Hospital & Health Services and Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare.  Beatty was a previous Chairman of the Edward Hospital Board of Trustees on which he had served since 2004.

Beatty is the former President and CEO of Telular Corporation, a publicly held provider of wireless monitoring solutions headquartered in Chicago.  He was born in Chicago, received an MBA from the University of Chicago and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois.

The merger, finalized on July 1, creates one of the larger integrated health systems in the state comprised of three hospitals – Edward, Elmhurst Memorial and Linden Oaks at Edward – with revenues of about $1 billion and more than 50 outpatient locations across a service area of 1.7 million residents.  The system employs nearly 7,700, has more than 1,680 physicians on staff and 1,700 volunteers.
