It’s Not Easy Being Green-- Northwestern University’s 72nd Annual Dolphin Show to be SHREK THE MUSICAL

Evanston, IL (October 16, 2013)--The Dolphin Show at Northwestern University, America's largest student-produced musical, is proud to announce SHREK THE MUSICAL as the 72nd Annual Dolphin Show. This year's production is to be produced by School of Communication seniors Brandon Johnston and Rachel Marchant and directed by Communication senior Marlee Rose Rich. SHREK will hold five performances from January 24 through February 1st, 2014. The official cast was released October 14th, 2013 and includes Alex Christ, Lauren Lenke, Chanse McCrary, Zachary Freier-Harrison, Carly Cozad, Will Wilhelm, Myrna Conn, Caroline Hatch, Chelsey Burger, Yagmur Tok, Alyssa Gianetti, Kylie Mullins, Leah Platt, Andrew Lee, Daniel Liu, Geoff Ko, Taylor Bostwick, Daniel Stromfeld, Anne Martin, Mitchell Johnston, Kylie Mullins, Julia Namm, Daniel Bender-Stern, Chelsey Burger, Hayley Himmelman, Casey Reed, Nathan Villa, Charlotte Morris, Tessa Dettman, Adhana Reid, Carly Cozad, Caroline Hatch, Kelsey Spencer, and Vivian Prieto.

SHREK THE MUSICAL, with music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire, debuted on Broadway in December 2008 and is based on the 2001 Dreamworks film and the 1990 book Shrek! by William Steig. SHREK tells the story of a swamp-living, bug-eating ogre and his journey to save a princess from an isolated tower. Along the way, Shrek encounters characters straight from our favorite fairytales and nursery rhymes while making new friends, experiencing new adventures, and finding true love in the most unexpected of places. SHREK reminds audiences that it is who you are and what you make of it that matters most in our lives, not what you appear to be.

The Dolphin Show is overjoyed to be bringing this inspiring musical to life on the Cahn Auditorium stage in 2014. After a swimming-pool fundraiser for the Dolphin Club in 1940, The Dolphin Show has since produced over 70 musicals with teams of over 140 forty passionate Northwestern students each year, quickly making a name for itself as America's largest student produced musical. Since its humble beginnings, The Dolphin Show has remained a staple in the Northwestern and Chicagoland communities with its professional production values, dedicated design teams, and talented casts of seemingly professional student performers.
