Zach Smith is captain of the football team. His long term goal is to become a doctor and one of his hobbies is singing opera. Rebecca Wagner captains the Girls Tennis team and also plays on the Girls Soccer team. She has worked in community service and in Appalachia this past summer. Jackson Mihevc is a three- sport athlete at the high school, one of a very few who can make that claim. Most recently he led the boy’s golf team to the state championships, the first time the team had gone to state since 1960. They finished in 7th place.
Each student received a certificate acknowledging their achievements, a book on leadership and a $25 gift card to Barnes & Noble. Mr.Van Zelst was an outstanding Evanston businessman, a humanitarian and art collector. The most recent honorees bring the total number honored by the Kiwanis Club to 133 students.
