Presence Saint Francis Hospital President & CEO Roberta Luskin-Hawk, M.D., Named in Top “Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know”
Presence Saint Francis Hospital President & CEO Roberta Luskin-Hawk, M.D., also the president of CEO of Presence Saint Joseph Hospital, was recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review in its 2013 list of “300 Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know,” for her outstanding commitment to improving healthcare in America.
In her 24-year career as a practicing physician, Dr. Luskin-Hawk has played a significant role in bringing AIDS research and treatment to the community. She co-founded one of the first HIV inpatient units serving the Chicago metropolitan area at Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in 1987, and as an AIDS/HIV advocate, she later founded a not-for-profit clinical research consortium in Chicago focused on improving access to people previously under-represented, such as women and African Americans, in clinical trials. She secured more than $20 million from 1989–2009 in funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for these clinical research programs to provide the underrepresented populations with access to life-saving HIV drugs.
Because of her outstanding success at Presence Saint Joseph Hospital-Chicago, Dr. Luskin-Hawk was appointed President & CEO at Presence Saint Francis in October 2013. During her tenure at Presence Saint Joseph Hospital, she has led system initiatives to help the hospital dramatically improve patient satisfaction, launch a successful robotic surgery program, and unveil a state-of-the-art emergency department.

In November 2010, Dr. Luskin-Hawk was recognized by Becker’s as one of 50 women who demonstrate outstanding leadership in the hospital and healthcare industry, and named a “Top Doctor” in Chicago by Castle Connolly in 2001, 2003 and 2009. “We are very pleased to have Dr. Luskin-Hawk serving two of our most prominent Chicago hospitals.
