Lang House on Sheridan Road Celebrates the Holidays Downton Abbey Style

Lang House B&B on Sheridan (formerly Cat’s Cradle B&B) and Innkeepers Wayde Cartwright and Bruce Boyd hosted its first special event this past Tuesday, December 17th. The event was a Downton Abbey-themed cooking class with caterers Ellie Carlson and Mark Howe of Ellie Present and Sweet Symphonie Custom Catering playing the roles of Mrs. Eaton and Mr. Howe. They served Edwardian Christmas delicacies such as roasted chestnut soup, herbed shortbread, individual duck pies, and Figgie pudding. Participants had the opportunity to learn to create the dishes as well as receive instruction on how to perform the tasks of Footmen and Butlers. The Lang house was decorated beautifully for the holidays and filled with gleeful cheer and guests were also allowed a private tour.

Lang House B&B  is one of Chicago's most sophisticated bed and breakfast inns and is convenient to Lake Shore Drive and the Gold Coast.  A circa 1919 prairie style and four square home, it is situated next to the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Emil Bach House on North Sheridan Road and has five guest rooms, each with a private bath. The house has original stencil work and murals, a wood burning fireplace, along with modern amenities such as heated bathroom floors.  The luxury facility is also well known as a small private reception home, welcoming guests for business or pleasure.
