The September 3 deadline for the Spirit of Evanston Award is approaching fast. The award, which honors the late Christine Passage, a co-founder of the MashUp, an event that celebrates Evanston, will be presented at the 4th MashUp on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

The award embodies the mix of qualities that personify Evanston..courage, vision,
compassion and creativity. First year winner was Dan Coyne who gave a kidney to Jewel cashier, Myra DeLaVega. Last year’s winner was Corrine Passage, who co-founded the MashUp and was the driving force for Pivot Point Cares for Kids, which has raised over $1 million for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Nominees must be Evanston residents.
