Supplies for Dreams' Build-A-Backpack Day

Build-a-Backpack Day is a community event to engage our neighbors, friends, and families in fun and meaningful service. On August 17th from 1-5 pm at the Norris Center Louis Room at Northwestern University, members of the community will come together to package over 4,000 backpacks for the underprivileged students of Chicago Public Schools (CPS). CPS is the 3rd largest public school system in America; however, a staggering proportion of CPS students–86%–come from low-income homes. Additionally, 45% of CPS students will not graduate from high school. Supplies for Dreams and Flowers for Dreams believe that equipping students with basic school supplies is the first step to a solution. Build-a-Backpack Day brings together members of the Evanston and Chicago communities to help these CPS students realize their own potential and achieve academic success. Help us celebrate another successful year, supplying the educations of Chicago Public Schools students - with the tools to succeed, the inspiration to do so, and the mentorship to lead the way.
