Belgian Chocolatier Piron Offers Chocolate of All Kinds

For this week's Foodie Find, Patch makes its way to Evanston's Belgian Chocolatier Piron on Main Street to explore some delectable treats.

For this week’s Foodie Find, Patch followed the sweet smell of chocolate to find Belgian Chocolatier Piron, a chocolate shop at 509 Main St. run by brothers Fred and Bob Piron.

Patch asked for a recommendation from Belgian Chocolatier Piron- maybe a sweet the shop doesn’t typically offer, a popular seller or just something “good and delicious.”

“Well, everything here is good and delicious, “ replied Fred Piron.

But a delicious treat Piron thinks customers may miss is the Manon. Manon comes in vanilla or mokka flavors. It is a Belgian white chocolate with a touch of marzipan inside and mocha or vanilla crème fraiche- like middle coating a centered pecan.

Piron said customers frequently stay away from white chocolate. But they’re missing the white chocolate casing that compliments a creamy center and adds a contrast to the usual milk or dark chocolate picks.

Piron said a popular seller is the Grand Marnier. It looks like a mini chocolate cupcake, but it’s actually whipped chocolate buttercream flavored with Grand Marnier, an orange flavored liquor.

The chocolate shop has wide array of Belgian chocolates to cure every sweet tooth’s craving.  It offers simple, pure chocolate or chocolates or all variations flavored with passion fruit, hazelnut, mocha, raspberry, strawberry, caramel and more.
