Clogged Drains Causing Street Flooding

By mid-day the City of Evanston had received about 30 calls for help with street flooding.

It's not a huge surprise but it's still a pain: Evanston's streets are starting to flood in the wake of rain falling on top of mounds of snow and ice.

As of about noon, 0.42 inches of rain had been recorded so far in Evanston, according to an email from Utilities Director David D. Stoneback. There had been about 30 requests for help with street flooding at that point.

In the above photo, you can see eight inches of ice that crews had to chip through in order to open up the drain beneath it.
