Keep your freezers closed and a stack of candles and flashlights nearby. It might be another few days of darkness before ComEd restores power to Evanston.

ComEd told the city that about 18,745 customers lost power after a violent storm Monday morning. The number of customers without power was reduced to about 11,812 as of Monday afternoon.

Crews are still at work, but ComEd officials told the city that they believe it may take a few days to completely restore power.
