ComEd: Power Outages Could Last For Days

Agency reports that 267,000 customers had lost power in its service area.

Restoring power to ComEd's northern region could be a multiple-day effort due to the extent of the damage, a ComEd spokesperson told Patch.

In the agency's northern region, which was hit the hardest, there were 187,000 customers without power as of 7 a.m., according to ComEd. In total, 267,000 customers were affected.

More than 400 crews were out working to restore power, the agency reported. By 10 a.m., a ComEd spokesperson told Patch that the number of customers without power in its northern region was down to 88,000.

In Evanston, readers reported seeing blocks of dark streets, particularly on the north side of the city. 

Residents should call ComEd at 1-800-EDISON-1 to report power outages and call 911 to report downed power lines.
