Date Night Destinations: Evanston

Need a good date idea? Romance is right around the corner.

Need some inspiration for a romantic evening in Evanston? Here are a few recommendations:

Dinner

- Take your date out to enjoy a variety of small plates that are perfect for sharing. Loosen up over a pitcher of sangria and enjoy the lively atmosphere.

- A fancy French restaurant is the most classic setting for a perfect date with your significant other (or soon to be significant other). Impress your date by ordering something fancy off the wine menu. Bon appetit!

- Ok, so it's not a cozy candle-lit restaurant, but the food speaks for itself. Dishes are large enough to share and the fresh fruit drinks are delicious.

Entertainment

- This theater has something for everyone: big blockbusters, small artsy films, popcorn, candy, and alcohol.

- "The Comedy of Errors" runs until Saturday. Tickets start at only $25, plus there's a student discount.

Dessert

- Right now their seasonal treat is a pumpkin pie concrete. That's a slice of pumpkin pie mixed with frozen custard. Perfect for sharing!

- It's open late, making it a great spot to grab a slice of post-movie cake. They also serve milkshakes (if you ask nicely they'll even blend a cookie into your shake.)

My favorite place to go for a date night with either my husband, my kids, or my girlfriends is I Dream of Sweets (currently on Dempster and Sherman, but they are moving to Noyes, across from the Cultural Arts Center). Their treats are delicious, as are their light meals. The service is friendly. James and Lorenzo always make us feel welcome. When you go, make sure you have room for the sweet potato coffee cake. Lorenzo bakes it from James' mom's recipe and it is incredible.

I adore Union Pizzeria, and they usually have great music lined up on the weekends.

The Cellar, behind Stained Glass , is my favorite date night destination. The food is awesome and the atmosphere is romantic. :)

If you can do date night on a weekday, Bravo has great specials at the bar. The flatbread is like $4 and delicious.

I think nothing screams romance like the five-for-five drive-thru menu at Arby's.

Javaad, I hear you. Arby's is in my dating protocol. Too bad I hardly ever get any second dates though.
