Interfaith Thanksgiving Service

Interfaith Action of Evanston invites the entire community to join in a joyous service of thanksgiving on Wednesday, November 24, 7:00 P.M., at the Unitarian Church of Evanston, 1330 Ridge Avenue. The Unitarian Church choir and the Bahá'í Faith Choir will provide music and lead singing. Representatives of several faiths will offer blessings.

Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid will be the keynote speaker for this 12th annual Thanksgiving service. He is chair of the board of trustees of the Council for the Parliament of the World's Religions and a leader in the Chicago Muslim community. Imam Mujahid works to encourage dialogue among religious traditions and to foster cooperative work for peace and justice through his writing, speaking, and public service at both the local and national levels. He believes that "Interfaith Dialogue is crucial for the tremendous changes needed for
humanity to move forward, especially today, where conflict and war have become a lifestyle for millions around the world….In Chicago I have seen how interfaith conversations have led to churches, mosques, and synagogues working together for real civic change."

In the spirit of this conviction, IAE is a coalition of religious congregations and others which serves the poor and homeless through soup kitchens, a daily hospitality center, and daily warming centers during cold weather months. Such service and dialogue bring together community members to celebrate shared values and advance understanding.
