Evanston Adults Spent A Combined $232,239 on Halloween Last Year

Adults are stealing the Halloween show from kids. See how much you and your neighbors spent on costumes last year!

Americans spent $512.1 million dollars on adult Halloween costumes last year. Yes, you read that correctly.

That number comes from Crain's Chicago Business and their recently released map showing spending on adult costumes for Halloween in 2011. It's more than 100 million more than was spent on kid's costumes last year.

It seems like the adults are getting into Halloween even more from the kids.

Evanstonians spent a total of $232,239 last year, according to Crain's. In contrast, neighboring Skokie spent a total of $144,413, while Wilmette residents spent $127,028 altogether.

so whats your point---that adults having fun or going to parties on Halloween steals from kids having Halloween fun?----Gads!---please tell me your just trying to be funny here...and BTW, from the book of econ 101---the more people spend the more it benefits the economy and creates jobs---so to my fellow Evanstonians, congrats on the fine job last year---lets break out those wallets and purses and see if we can crack the $300,00 barrier this year...and by all means--Happy Halloween!

I think it was an attempt to be funny, John. Hey, we can't hit a home run with our jokes every time!
