Daphe Dortch thanks show for helping to change her life.

Evanston mother Daphne Dortch lost her bid to be crowned this season's "Biggest Loser" on the NBC reality TV show last night.

Dortch, along with her brother Adrian, was competing for the $250,000 grand prize by going through a grueling exercise and nutrition regime along with other contestants. Adrian was eliminated in an earlier episode. Both are Evanston natives and Evanston Township High School alumni.

In a video taped after her time on "The Biggest Loser," Daphne Dortch thanked the show for changing her life.

Dortch explained that before becoming a contestant she was on three medications to treat her potentially fatal atrial fibrillation. Now she's on only one. She also lost a total of 71 pounds, much of it after leaving the show.

She explained that she'd been living with her three children at her parents' house because she wanted to make sure her kids would be cared for should anything happen to her because of her condition. Now, she and her kids have moved into her own home.

"This is a new chapter in my life and I am excited about it," she said in the video. "This is a 'pinch-me' moment.'"
