Meet Simpson, A Handsome Grey Tabby Cat

Each week, we feature pets available for adoption from C.A.R.E. at Evanston's Animal Shelter.

Simpson arrived at C.A.R.E. after a harrowing stint as a stray cat out on the streets. Now Simpson's seeking a safer berth with someone who will share their sofa, window ledge and, dare we say it, their bed.

Simpson, a sturdy 2-year-old tabby, is distinguished by his handsome face and sincere green eyes. C.A.R.E. volunteers have called him a "purr machine" who also makes "cute chirping noises."

It so happens that Simpson really prefers the company of men. Here's the recent observation of a C.A.R.E. volunteer: "Debbie spent the most time with Simpson and found him loving the brushing and attention--he even let her clip his nails. When Debbie left and Mike came in to join me later, Simpson gravitated toward him, nuzzled him, treated him like his best friend! This made us think that maybe Simpson is a man's man who really likes guys."

Simpson happens to be FIV+ but otherwise healthy. There's no treatment for FIV, but many cats that test FIV+ live long, healthy lives. Simpson's family will need to be observant of any health or dental changes or issues and seek treatment immediately. Read more about FIV here.

The silver lining of Simpson's FIV+ status is, he's one of the Zucchini's Gift cats--that means he can be adopted for a much-reduced adoption fee.
